Are you #instaworthy enough for a brand deal?

I have always been one to hustle for a dollar. I started selling Mary Kay in 2017. I have held 5 jobs since high school and one of them began even back in middle school. Working has always been a passion of mine & quite honestly, a necessity.

I hate sitting around and doing nothing, aka why I started this blog.

If you watch any reality TV series like the Bachelor, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, or Jersey Shore – you know social media presence is almost a reputation they must keep up once revealing their casting for the show.

Within weeks of casting, their Instagram stories revolve around influencer posts for teeth whitening, hair curlers, clothing lines, lash extensions, bronzers, and so on.

They offer discount codes for their followers and that results in them getting a percentage of the sales they make from followers using their personalized codes.

I won’t lie, making 10% off of each $50 teeth whitening kit bought with your code sounds pretty sweet.

Vox posted an article in which they said this, “Influencers with up to 1 million followers can get $10,000 [per post], depending on the platform, and 1 million followers and up, you’re getting into territory where they can charge $100,000. Some can even get $250,000 for a post! Especially if the content is on Youtube and the influencer is in the gaming industry.”

Most cast members also keep their day job. Take Tia Booth from Arie’s season of the Bachelor for example. She is a physical therapist and after being casted for the Bachelor & Bachelor in Paradise, Tia began her social media influence. However, she has kept her therapist position while making social media money on the side from her phone.

Tia has 797,000 followers. That’s a high potential for making money through a social media presence.

I run social media accounts for 3 businesses. Getting paid to post pictures and come up with attention-getting captions is a great deal. I love the jobs I currently have, but being an influencer is so appealing to me.

I began my social media presence in 2018, when several small brands took an interest in me. If you follow me on Instagram @bswagmoneymays, you will find that I have a story highlight titled, “collabs.” Here you will find my collaborations with Folsom, Plato’s Closet, Smile Sciences, Morris York, Cletora, Lulumosity, Aveal, Abella, Latah Apparel, & Warby Parker.

Each of my influencer codes offer 30% off your order. I make anywhere from 5-15% commission off of my sales.

My only warning is never partner with a company that will not appeal to your following.

Warby Parker & Smile Sciences have brought in some money to my bank account. The apparel lines – not so much.

Most women want to try on the clothes before they spend the money on them, so teeth whitening, accessories, and hair products are usually top sellers for any following.

Also, be sure to check out the company’s following. See how many followers they have & how legit they really look. That is a mistake I have made and you run the risk of losing money or never making any in the first place.

I am hoping this blog encourages my social media presence and results in larger brand deals.

I may never go on the Bachelor, but I’d love to make a few bucks! 💚
